Happy Tuesday!
I hope everyone enjoyed their long holiday weekend and that you were able to spend quality time with friends and family.
Vacations, holidays, sometimes just weekends in general can be difficult times to "stay on track" or "on the wagon' as far as a healthy diet is concerned. Hectic schedules, too many restaurant meals, and lack of formal exercise can make for a lot of regret on a Monday (or in this case, Tuesday) morning.

However, just because you might have "fallen off the wagon" for a few days is NOT a reason to throw in the towel. We all make poor choices. We all have days when the marathon on USA network is so riveting the idea of going outside for fresh air and exercise is the last thing on our mind. That is NOT a reason to just abandon all hopes of being healthier. It is simply a minor setback.
Truth be told, we all NEED to have days when we loosen up the reigns and enjoy ourselves. If you don't allow yourself those little "diet detours" you can grow very frustrated or feel deprived at times. It is how you handle the detours that matter.

I don't believe in the "I'll start Monday" philosophy. I live by and believe in "TOMORROW is a new day". If you let a weekend of bad choices snowball it will become a week, a month...who knows how long a time period of bad choices.
When that happens, the scale is not the only thing that suffers. YOU suffer. Oftentimes when we believe we have failed at something (in this case, our diet, or healthy lifestyle), we believe WE are failures. That is simply not the case.
The truth of the matter is, we are human.
So, if you had one too many helpings of potato salad, or a few more cocktails while watching the fireworks than you intended, just take a moment to think to yourself how good they tasted and how ready you are now to get back on track.
After all, a Radio Flyer is cute, but it's even cuter when there is someone on it.
