Our economy is growing. I have other concerns.

Reasons for choosing Obama for President. Fears for not.

Standing up and speaking out: Although I avoid discussing current politics with close friends, there are some unavoidable conversations. My preference is to listen to what they need to say then I ask “Rather than tell me what you don’t like about President Obama, tell me why you want Gov Romney”. At best I hear general responses such as “We need a businessman” or “We need a change”. At worst, I hear more unspecific rant against President Obama with increasing anger. OK, that is how it is.

In fairness both ways, I would like to pose the question to myself. Not that you asked, but then you clicked to get here and can click away.

Frankly, I am experiencing a growing economy. My business is tuned to the economy with about 120 day lag. I see it growing every week. I believe we are on the right track. I want to continue this trend. Sure, it is far below what it was but it is returning and has been for a while. Our economy was based on a false market. The financial industry has created such a fragile structure with the mortgages, and unsupervised lies supporting the inflation. It had to come down.

So, I see nothing wrong with the trend in the economy. However, what I fear with a Republican administration dittoing a Republican Congress would be several things that are not necessarily economy related. Any one of these would be enough to cause concern. BUT, with 18 I cannot understand how anyone could not be concerned.

 Here are a few….

1. Roe v Wade would change dramatically or be eliminated by 2nd term. There have been claims this would happen.
2. More difficult choices for women. Among them difficult access to contraception and no safe access to abortion for even life threatening conditions. If my daughter or my wife’s life were at stake, I would opt for an early, safe abort. If there were one condition, then I must favor the “right” to choose even though I may campaign against choosing abortion.
3. Medicare vouchers. Call it any name but that is what it would be.
4. Elimination of Obamacare rather than modifying to retain and improve. Thus adversely affecting millions who are now benefiting.
5. Severe cutback in PBS programming and countless Arts programs that are today already suffering.
6. We would enter an avoidable war with Iran
7. Paul Ryan would be actively promoting his agenda as stated before becoming a candidate. He frightens me.
8. Drill Baby drill (For my interest we are doing too much of this now). The current administration is issuing too many drill permits. We need to focus more on alternatives.
9. Environmental laws would be repealed/rescinded.
10. Fracking would accelerate dramatically until there is an accident with irreversible damage. .
11. Regulations and oversight over the banks, Wall Street and financial industry will be relaxed even more.
12. Higher cost for college or college loans.
13. Strengthening of the lobbyist system.
14. The pipeline would be built. This is not a necessary project.
15. Gay rights would be ended and rescinded.
16. Marriage equality would cease progressing.
17. Rape? Oh my. How can you redefine Rape. Rape is Rape. BUT, I fear that it shall be.
18. Planned Parenthood would be unfunded thus abolished. This is one of the few places one can obtained factual information.
