Piney Orchard to Hold May Day Safety Event at POES

Saturday is a busy day at Piney Orchard Elementary School.

On May 14, the Piney Orchard Safety Committee has put together a jam packed day for all to enjoy.

The event starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m. best of all, it's open to the public and free!

The demonstration schedule is as follows:

10:00 Explosives K-9 demonstration;

10:30 D.A.R.E. presentation;

11:00 MD State Police Helicopter Landing and Training with Odenton Volunteer Fire Department;

12:00 Bully Busters Demonstration by Vuong's Martial Arts;

12:30 MD Defense Force Mounted Cavalry Demonstration;

1:00 Car Rescue (Jaws of Life) Demonstration by Odenton Volunteer Fire Department; and

1:30 Sheriff's Department K-9 Demonstration.

They are also having a Sprinkler House, Ambulance and several Fire Trucks from the Fire Department (six I've heard), the Anne Arundel County Mobile Command Unit (used for major disasters/events requiring on-site management), Citizens Emergency Response Team (CERT), DARE, MADD, on-site engraving for bikes, GPS units and any portable valuables...and of course, a moonbounce :)

This event is a great way to introduce your children to our local police and fire departments, not to mention getting their bikes engraved.  I never thought of getting my GPS engraved, I'm definitely headed that way to take advantage of that!
