Quidditch at Arundel
There was Quidditch match at Arundel to raise money for Kenya Connect.
Arundel High School held its 2nd annual Quidditch match on Friday, March 15, as a fundraiser for the Kenya Connect foundation. This foundation helps provide access to clean water, solar powered computer labs, and better schoolrooms. The fundraiser was an initiative started by two Arundel students through their participation in Arundel's Interact Club.
Aashi Parikh and Jordan Luber began this project last year and it has grown to become a tradition at Arundel High. The Quidditch match is not only a means to raise money for a great cause but also a battle of the grades. Grades 9-12 are assigned names straight out of the Harry Potter franchise: Hufflepuff (9th), Ravenclaw (10th), Slytherin (11th), and Gryffindor (12th). They battle not in the air, but at Carroll Field for the House cup and bragging rights (Brooms included). Some students request to be a part of their grade's team, others come out to support their fellow classmates and members of the staff are the coaches and refs. The days leading up to the game are filled with excitement and trash talk among the students with each grade believing they are better than the next.
The moment of truth finally arrived this past Friday when the grades went head to head for the coveted Quidditch House Cup. The first match was the 10th and 12th grades, or Ravenclaw vs. Gryffindor and second match was the 9th and 11th grades, or Hufflepuff and Slytherin. The championship match was between Gryffindor and Slytherin and was a bitter battle to the end. While Gryffindor was ultimately able to come away with the victory, it came down to a two on two sudden death match that ended up being the deciding factor. This is the second consecutive win for Gryffindor because they won last year as juniors. This proves once and for all that the class of 2013 is the best Arundel has ever seen (Biased included).

Although, it’s always fun proving superiority among the grades, it is even better to support a great cause and the Arundel Wildcats definitely showcased that Wildcat Pride with this Quidditch match. We were able to raise thousands of dollars for Kenya Connect.
Sorry this article is coming a few weeks late, the life of a senior is really busy and never stops.
