Wildcats In India

Arundel Students go to India.

The recent holiday season was full of travel both locally and globally. People from all over went by train, car, and plane to reconnect with loved ones. That is exactly what two Arundel students did when they traveled all the way to India for a family wedding.

Aashi and her friend Allie went to India to visit Aashi's family and to attend her cousin's wedding. While they were there they had various experiences that broadened their view of the world.

15 hours and two lane rides later, Aashi and Allie were in a completely different world from the one they are accustomed to. The culture was rich, diverse and a little eccentric.

Allie who had never been to India was surprised to learn that she would have to bath with a bucket instead of having a shower or tub. There was also the crazy traffic and spicy, rich foods that took a little time to get use to. However, after a quick adjustment, the girls started to have a wonderful time.

Aashi's cousin had a wonderful wedding with 400 family and friends(this is actually considered a small wedding in India). There were pre wedding parties where the girls were able to get henna tattoos and participate in the pre wedding ceremonies. They had a great time and it was a amaxzing experience.

All in all, the trip was a wonderful and eye opening adventure. Allie felt that it was important to see how other people exist in the world and it made her more appreciative. Aashi felt that the trip made her realize all the differences there are between life over here and life over there. It also stressed the importance of family, people's heart and determination. She feels very lucky to be able to be from two worlds and see things from either side.

It is very important that our generation continues to have these experiences and we don't have to go all the way to India to get them. If we all just take the time to experience life from someone elses point of view, the world would be truly become a global community.
