Chamber Gets Set for Busy October
A big tour of area development and some sessions on energy savings highlight the calendar of the West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce.

The has a busy October planned, with a wide range of events on topics including BRAC, energy savings and development in Odenton. Here’s a rundown of things happening during the month. Unless otherwise noted, events take place at the chamber offices, 8385 Piney Orchard Parkway, Odenton.
Energy Co-Op Sessions

When: Monday, Oct. 3 at 9 a.m. and Wednesday, Oct. 5 a 4 p.m.
Details: Chamber members can save money on electricity and natural gas by joining the Energy Purchasing Cooperative. These two sessions are designed to explain the benefits of the program. CQI Associates will also have a webinar on the topic on Oct. 5 at noon.

“Beyond BRAC” Breakfast
When: Oct. 12, 9 a.m.
Details: If you’re a business in town and curious about how to take advantage of the growth at Fort Meade, this is for you. The session has been update with new information since the completion of BRAC activities at the installation. There is no cost for the session, but members are asked to RSVP by calling 410-672-3422 or registering online.
Tour of West County Expo and Developer Showcase
When: Oct. 19, 10:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Where: Seven Oaks Office Building, 2288 Blue Water Boulevard, Odenton.
Details: This is the chamber’s flagship event. Learn all about the development happening in West Anne Arundel County, including projects in the Odenton Town Center. The event will include a showcase of developers in town, followed by a bus tour of the area at 12:30 p.m. Cost is $20 for the expo, $65 for the expo and bus tour.
Breakfast Session with Constellation Energy
When: Oct. 25, 8 a.m.
Where: , 329 Gambrills Rd, Gambrills.
Details: The chamber’s monthly “Tuesday Topics” breakfast includes a talk with Bonnie Johansen, manager of public affairs at Constellation Energy. Learn about the impact of the merger with Exelon and ask questions about the recent power outages. Cost is $20 for members, $30 for non-members.
The chamber has also scheduled the following committee meetings for next week:
