Community Awards, BRAC Session Among New Business Events

The West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce will celebrate its 50th anniversary this year. But before its big bash, it has a number of events for members and non-members in the next month.

Here are a handful of upcoming events, including information sessions and social gatherings.

Greene Turtle Mixer

When: Tuesday, 5-7 p.m.
Where: Greene Turtle, Arundel Mills.

Details: This is open to chamber members and non-chamber members. There’s no entry fee, and you start your own tab. Tickets could sell out, so be sure to register in advance.

“Tuesday Topics” on MARC Expansion

When: Feb. 28, 8 a.m.
Where: Kaufmann’s Tavern, 329 Gambrills Rd., Gambrills.

Details: Michelle Whelley from the Central Maryland Tranporation Alliance will be the guest speaker, and will talk about her group’s proposal to expand MARC train service. Cost is $20 for chamber members, $30 for non-chamber members.

Beyond BRAC Brief
When: March 7, 9:30 a.m.
Where: West County Area Library

Details: Everyone knows that BRAC expansion at Fort Meade is done. Now it’s time to learn about all the other growth. This event is for chamber members only. Be sure to register in advance.

Small Business Council Panel

When: March 14, 5-7 p.m.
Where: Greenway Bowl, 8246 Telegraph Rd. Odenton.

Details: The chamber will have a session with marketing and financial services experts to discuss the advantages of outsourcing those tasks. Cost is $15 for members, $25 for non-members.

2012 Community Awards Dinner

When: March 28
Where: The Hotel at Arundel Preserve, Hanover.
