DC Men Charged With Casino Robbery, Assault

Three suspects have been charged with trying to enter cars at the Maryland Live Casino and robbing a patron.

Three Washington, D.C., men who allegedly tried to break into cars at the Maryland Live Casino have been charged with robbing and assaulting a customer there.

Anne Arundel County Police were called to the casino parking garage, located at 7002 Arundel Mills Circle in Hanover, on June 10 for a report of suspicious subjects trying to get into cars inside the garage.

Security personnel told police they watched several suspects via security cameras as they attempted to enter into cars on the third floor of the parking garage.

While officers sought those suspects, they were approached by a 37-year-old man who had just been robbed by three men as he walked to his vehicle.

According to the victim, three black men stole his wallet and then fled the garage in an unknown vehicle. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.

Once suspects were identified, arrest warrants were issued for the men and each has since been located and charged with robbery, assault and theft, among other charges.

The suspects are:

  • Vincent Donta McSwain, 30, 4700 block of Benning Road in Washington, D.C.
  • Darnell Jerome Smith, 24, 4400 block of Quarles St, NE, in Washington, D.C.
  • Rashaid Carthens, 21, 1500 block of Benning Road in Washington, D.C.
