Death Nearly 10 Years After Hanover Party Shooting A Homicide
An Ellicott City man shot at a 2009 Hanover party has died from those wounds and Anne Arundel County Police say the case is a homicide.

HANOVER, MD — An Ellicott City man shot at a 2009 Hanover party died this fall from those wounds and Anne Arundel County Police say the case is a homicide. Jason Erol Armetta of the 10000 block of Old Frederick Road in Ellicott City died on Sept. 25, 2018, from complications of the gunshot wounds he suffered when he was 24, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled.
Police say a woman held a birthday party in the 7300 block of Parkway Drive South in Hanover that ended in gunshots on Feb. 15, 2009. Witnesses at the time told investigators that three unknown men entered the party and aruged with Armetta. During the argument one of the men shot Armetta with a handgun.
Armetta suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was treated at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Hospital. Since the shooting, Armetta received medical care for his injuries, police said. After his death this year, an autopsy was performed that ruled it a homicide.

Homicide detectives believe witnesses might be more likely to discuss the event nearly a decade later than they were immediately after the shooting. Relationships change; witnesses have moved and may be more comfortable with assisting law enforcement with the investigation, police said in a news release.
