DISA Gets a New Director
Army Lt. Gen. Carroll F. Pollett announced his retirement from the agency at Fort Meade and has been replaced by Air Force Lt. Gen. Ronnie D. Hawkins Jr.
The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) has a new director, after Army Lt. Gen. Carroll F. Pollett formally announced his retirement Wednesday.
During a ceremony at DISA's headquaters at Fort Meade, Pollett transferred leadership to Air Force Lt. Gen. Ronnie D. Hawkins Jr.
According to a DISA press release, Pollett took over leadership of DISA in 2008 and oversaw the agency's move from Northern Virginia to in 2011. He also helped craft the DISA Campaign Plan, which outlined the framework of the organization's future over the next two years.

Hawkins, the new director, was vice director of DISA from September 2009 to July 2011. Most recently, he was based at the Pentagon as deputy director for Command, Control, Communications and Computer Systems (C4) Joint Staff.
DISA is the largest agency that was as part of the base realignment and closure (BRAC) activities last year. The agency is in charge of providing the computer infrastructure and support for the Department of Defense.
