Does Odenton Need a Really Big Thing?

The recent Patch article about the Halloween store’s opening in the Odenton Shopping Center got me thinking. Tim mentioned on Facebook that it wasn’t a “grocery store, but it's something to fill some space in the Odenton Shopping Center.” A few days after I read that piece, a haunting memory of a stand-up comedian riffing on a very similar subject flashed through my otherwise vacant, medicated mind.

I ran to the Google-box, fired it up, and found the clip I was thinking about. Maryland’s own Lewis Black jokes about ways to stimulate the economy by building a big thing. I will let you listen to his not-safe-for-work (NSFW) words. Explicit and hilarious language contained within: [YouTube clip of Lewis Black that does not necessarily reflect the views and opinions of Patch or AOL].

After watching Lewis, I started thinking about what could help the Odenton Shopping Center or Odenton in general. What big thing could Odenton become known for? Of course, the world’s largest ball of twine is taken (Cawker City, KS). Also claimed are the largest milk bottle (Spokane, WA), the biggest bottle of “catsup” (Collinsville, IL), and a whole host of other big things.

As always, this piece of blogyllium (copyright, trademark, patent pending) is just my thoughts and hopefully smarter, more motivated people will carry this idea onward.

I’ll just throw a few ideas out there (see visuals) to get the wheels churning.
