Students and parents interested in learning about the magnet programs available in Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) can attend an informational session on Oct. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Old Mill High School.
AACPS currently has 13 magnet programs available to county public school students. At the middle school level, there are three International Baccalaureate (IB) and two Performing and Visual Arts (PVA) magnets. At the high school level, students can choose from three IB programs, two Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) programs, two Centers for Applied Technology programs and the BioMedical Allied Health program. A new high school PVA program will open next year.
Magnet programs are open to all interested fifth- and eighth-graders who meet the minimum requirements as noted on the Advanced Studies and Programs page of the AACPS website, www.aacps.org. The application period for magnet programs begins on October 1.
