On
Friday, August 10th, 2012 from 4:00pm - 7:00pm, we will have Eric from Island
Distributing here and pouring following wines.
- Whale Rider Sauvignon Blanc: The wine is vibrant and juicy with excellent ripe varietal tastes and crisp refreshing acidity on the finish. The grapes for this wine are produced in the choicest vineyards in the upper Moutere region of Nelson. We have had henomenally good feedback on the quality of this wine.
- Solomons Chardonnay Unoaked: A Dry White Wine. Toasty, creamy, slightly buttery, and complex Fermented in American Oak Barrels to add a nice bit of Oak. Excellent pairing with Striped Bass or Red Snapper.

Jeff's Beer review of the week:
Sierra Nevada Southern Hemisphere Harvest Hop
Ale
The Southern Hemisphere Harvest Hop Ale by Sierra Nevada is a fresh hop ale featuring all hops from New Zealand. All hops were grown, dried, and then flown to Chico, California within one week of being picked to allow for the freshest aromatics and flavors. When first poured into a glass I noticed the burnt orange color with a thick off white head, which as it settled left even lacing around
the top of the glass. Smelling very strong of hops with citrus and floral notes, other unfamiliar smells pop up which I attribute to the hops being grown in New Zealand. First sip is full of hops and all those citrus and floral smells come right out in the flavor. Overall just a great beer with a unique flavor and a cool story behind it. Easy to drink and won't leave your taste buds shocked for the rest of the night.
Full of flavor, the Southern Hemisphere Harvest Hop Ale is a great beer that is unique in the hops used as well as the taste. This Ale is meant to be drank while it's fresh so grab one as soon as you see it, and drink it that night. Being in a 24oz bottle at 6.7% Alcohol by Volume the Harvest Ale is easy to drink alone but also can be shared with a friend.
