Details: Several local schools will have their back-to-school nights this week, allowing parents to meet with teachers.

Arundel High Football vs. Annapolis

When: Friday, 6:30 p.m.
Where: Carroll Field, Arundel High School
Details: Coach Chuck Markiewicz’s team is back in action with its first game of the regular season. Come cheer on the high-powered Wildcats as they seek another playoff berth. Look to Patch later this week for an in-depth preview of the game and the season.

Maryland State Fair

When: Now through Sept. 5.
Where: Timonium Fairgrounds
Details: The first weekend of the state fair was a little wet and windy, but the rest of the week looks fine. There will be live horseracing, rides, and plenty of contests involving everything from pigs to pie. Country music star Blake Shelton will perform on Sept. 3.
