County Council Meeting

When: Monday, 7 p.m.

Where: 44 Calvert St., Annapolis

Details: It looks like a full agenda for the county council, as it takes up a number of issues including comprehensive rezoning, waterway improvements and the school system’s capital budget.

When: Wednesday.

Details: Area residents have until the end of the day on Wednesday to comment on the proposal by Tolson & Associates to the end of Capital Raceway Road. Many and other nearby communities have already written letters to the Maryland Department of the Environment, which has given preliminary approval for the project.

When: Wednesday, 6 p.m.

Where: Piney Orchard Elementary School

Details: County transportation planners will meet with residents to hear suggestions on how to improve service on the M Route service that connects Piney Orchard to the MARC station.

Veterans Day Ceremony at Fort Meade

When: Thursday, 2 p.m.,

Where: Memorial Plaza near the Fort Meade Museum flag pole.

Details: Fort Meade will honor our nation’s Veterans with a special ceremony. Congressman C. A. “Dutch” Ruppersberger will be in attendance, and the guest speaker for the event is Pulitzer Prize nominee and Vietnam veteran war correspondent, Don Hirsch. 

Coffee With the Principal

When: Saturday, 9-11 a.m.

Where: Nichols-Bethel United Methodist Church, Welcome Center

Details: Arundel High Principal Sharon Stratton will hold her latest informal chat with parents. Some parents said they will voice concerns over the location of graduation ceremonies, and will lobby for the event to be held somewhere other than Carroll Field.
