Former Maryland Cabinet Secretary Speaks at Local GOP Meeting
A small crowd of District 32 Republicans attended the monthly meeting at Severn United Methodist Church.
Larry Hogan, Chairman and Founder of Change Maryland, spoke at the District 32 monthly meeting Tuesday night at the Severn United Methodist Church, urging the Republicans to challenge the status quo in Annapolis and to fight for change.
After a prayer, pledge of allegiance and introductions, Hogan began his remarks acknowledging that District 32 has an uphill battle in winning Republican support. He offered his thanks to those present for not “giving up” on the Republican Party.
Speaking publicly for just the second time since beginning Change Maryland less than thirty days ago, Hogan spoke briefly about his time as Secretary of Appointments for the Ehrlich administration and admitted that many Republicans have become discouraged since Ehrlich’s recent defeat to Governor Martin O’Malley.

“We can’t allow that to happen,” said Hogan who is encouraged by the ground swell of Republicans at the County level. “You can rebuild the party through the local governments.”
“I am fed up with politics as usual as many others are,” said Hogan. “They aren’t solving problems and instead are making them worse.”

Hogan went on the offensive towards Gov. O’Malley and other Maryland Democrats and said those in Annapolis don't understand the problems of average families. Hogan turned his attention to promoting Change Maryland, and again asked members of District 32 not to give up hope.
“All Marylanders-Republicans, Democrats, and Independents-suffer when the professional politicians and the special interest groups go unchecked and continue to push the same failed ‘tax and spend’ policies,” said Hogan. “It’s time we said enough is enough.”
