Fort Meade NSA Staffer Killed In Car Crash
A member of the Navy assigned to the NSA at Fort Meade was killed in a car accident in Upper Marlboro.

ODENTON, MD — A U.S. Navy member assigned to the National Security Agency at Fort Meade was killed when his car slammed into a guardrail early Friday on Crain Highway in Upper Marlboro, according to Maryland State Police. Jonathan Javoria Griffin, 34, died in the crash, which was reported about 12:15 a.m.
The one-vehicle accident happened on Route 301/Crain Highway near the intersection with Village Drive, according to a news release. Griffin was driving a 2015 Dodge Challenger northbound when he lost control of the car, crossed several traffic lanes into southbound 301 and then hit a guardrail and support pole, WUSA reports. Debris from the collision was also scattered in the northbound lanes.
The northbound and southbound lanes of Route 301 were closed from Marlboro Pike to Village Drive until 3:20 a.m. for the investigation into the crash, police said.

Authorities did not say what Griffin's hometown is, or what might have led him to lose control of his car.
