Four Seasons Formally Opposes Landfill Plan
The Four Seasons Community Association's board voted unanimously against plans for a rubble landfill to the south of the community.

The Four Seasons Community Association has formally voted to oppose plans for a rubble landfill to be constructed at the end of Capitol Raceway Road in Crofton.
The association's board of directors voted unanimously against the landfill, which would be built by Tolson & Associates just to the south of the community.
Association president Andrew Pruski testified against the plans during a public hearing on the landfill last Thursday, and the community's board held a vote over the weekend.

The Maryland Department of Environment has issued a preliminary approval of the 72-acre landfill, but the plans have been met with strong opposition from nearby residents concerned about pollution, traffic, noise and home values.
Four Seasons officials said they were particularly concerned about a perception that they supported the landfill plan due to a previous agreement with Cunningham Sand and Gravel Inc., which owns the land in question. Cunningham previously operated a mining business on the site, and Four Seasons supported that operation in exchange for money placed in a community benefits fund. But, Pruski said, that agreement did not extend to Tolson and did not suggest support for a rubble landfill operation.

Other nearby communities including the Piney Orchard Community Association in Odenton have formally opposed the landfill plan.
Four Seasons said it is working to organize a public meeting with other communities in the area, and is encouraging local elected officials to state their opposition to the project.
