I hope everyone is settling back into a normal routine after the Christmas and New Year's Day chaos. It's time to get back to the stores so you can fill the cupboards with essential supplies.

Here are some of the best bargains around town. Please note that in many cases, you will need the store's reward card to take advantage of the discount.

Get Organized on the Cheap—Now that the holidays are over, it’s time to put a lot of stuff away. has plastic 18-gallon storage bins at two for $12. The Ace “Time to Get Organized” sale runs through Jan. 9.

Bargains on Berries—The in Odenton has a number of good deals in its circular, including a buy one, get one free promotion on all blueberries, blackberries and strawberries. Help your immune system with some colorful fruit and save cash at the same time.

Half-Off Chicken—The in Piney Orchard has some decent sales on meat, including 50 percent off all Purdue chicken breasts. That could save you about $2.75 per pound now through Jan. 10.

Detergent, Paper Towels and Trash Bags—This gets a little complicated, but here’s the deal: if you and buy two or more of select paper towels, detergent and trash bags, you can save $3 per item. For instance, if you buy two bottles of Tide that normally would cost $10 each, they’ll cost only $7 a piece now. Check the circular to see which items qualify.

BoGo on Cereal—Everyone knows cereal costs an arm and a leg. The Food Lion in Hanover can save you some money with a buy one, get one free deal on all Cheerios. There’s a limit of two free.

Quick Meals, Low Cost—If you want to make some meals on the run, the might be able to save you money. The store has Hamburger Helper at $1 a box and Lean Cuisine meals at $1.98 each.
