The preliminary cause of the crash appears to be Grillo’s failure to yield intersection right of way while facing a steady red traffic signal. There is no indication of excessive speed or alcohol use, police said in the initial report.

The Traffic Safety Section is handling the investigation and the case will be reviewed by the State's Attorney.
