Grant To Battle Alcohol Abuse in West County

County health officials are seeking community groups to apply for a $45,000 grant to help reduce underage drinking, binge drinking and drunk driving.

Health officials are asking groups in west Anne Arundel County to apply for a grant of more than $45,000 to help reduce underage drinking and drunk driving in the area.

According to a press release from the Anne Arundel County Department of Health, the grant would allow community organizations to lead the Western Anne Arundel County Strategic Prevention Framework Coalition, which seeks to develop strategies and programs to fight alcohol problems. The grant would serve the populations in Odenton, Severn, Hanover, Fort Meade, Jessup and Laurel.

Under the grant guidelines, funding must be used to help battle underage drinking, youth binge drinking and/or alcohol-related crashes in west county.
