Gym Inside BWI Airport Contender For Best In US Title

HANOVER, MD — Making it to the airport, hauling bags through screening and then praying that your flight goes smoothly generates all kinds of stress. A workout is a great way to burn off that energy, and for fliers at BWI Airport with long layovers, a trip to Roam Fitness is a way to get in their daily exercise. The facility makes BWI a contender for the title of favorite airport service or amenity in a USA Today contest.

Airports nationwide are offering travelers a comfortable experience, from spas and gyms to movie theaters and play areas. BWI is in the running for bragging rights, along with San Jose International Airport's The Club At SJC, a lounge equipped with snacks, charging stations, work areas, shower facilities, and Direct TV; Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport's Escape Lounge, which offers free WiFi, food, drinks and an array of magazines and newspapers; the Comfort Zone Spa at Jacksonville's airport, which provides a full-service spa experience from massages to manicures and pedicures; and the private nursing space for traveling mothers at John Wayne Airport, complete with comfortable seating and a changing table.

ROAM Fitness inside BWI is a 1,175-square-foot ADA accessible gym where travelers can lift weights or jog on a treadmill pre flight. Reservable showers make it easy to workout and catch your flight.

Travelers can buy a day pass for $25, a month-long pass for $100 or a yearly pass for $350. Members have access to gym facilities, private shower rooms, and receive complimentary clothing and shoe rentals every time they visit, says the Roam Fitness website. All members can reserve 15-minute showers with towel service, annual members can reserve a shower 24-hours in advance online.

The gym is located post-security. Visitors must have a valid boarding pass or be a badged airport employee in order to reach the facility.
