Happy Holidays from Dr. Cox

The Greatest Gift I Have Received

I sat in front of my accounting software tonight attempting to comprehend the intricacies of bookkeeping, a completely new essential skill to me, and exercising every bit of restraint I could possibly muster to keep from smashing my laptop closed and sitting down with my family to catch the tail end of the football game. It took all of my will power to push through and ignore my urge to give up and turn my brain off. At one point, I almost caved.

As an owner of a Chiropractic practice, sometimes it’s easy to get lost in the minutia of running a practice. It can be easy to become distracted by the stress, the anxiety and the pressure that comes along with the running of a business.

Tonight, when I found myself wanting to stop working before the task was done, I had a moment. I had a moment that flipped a switch in my head and reminded me why I choose to practice Chiropractic and why I choose to make the sacrifices I make. I’m afraid this may come across as self-serving, but it is absolutely not intended to be.

As Chiropractors, we choose to sacrifice our bodies, our time on earth, our time with our families, and our energy to deliver one of the best healthcare products available. We know the value of what we offer because we see it every day in our offices. On a daily basis, I encounter patients whose symptoms are improving markedly and whose lives are returning to normal. I am fortunate to serve the Fort Meade area, so I have the honor of treating many service members and their families. The things that they have to go through are, to me, unimaginable. I am also fortunate to treat many people from the surrounding civilian population. People suffering from sciatica, headaches, back pain, neck pain, radiculopathies and much more. Some people, who may not suffer from severe pain, yet have just heard of the benefits of Chiropractic care and want to make sure their bodies are working the way they are supposed to come in to be adjusted. To know that I am helping these people to improve their health and their lives makes it all worth it.

The feeling I get when a patient comes into the office and reports that they are feeling better never gets old. It’s never overlooked. When an established patient refers a friend or family member to be seen, I’m elated to know that I’ve helped them so much that they trust me to help someone they care about too. Given the spirit of the Holidays, I just want to thank my patients for giving me the opportunity to help. That’s your gift to me. Thank you all.
