Therapy abuse is real but a lot of people don't know about it or don't believe it. The victim has a hard time proving it as when they report it to other therapists, police, and other people in higher up positions they don't believe them. They take the side of the therapist as they will use their mental illness against them. Clients of therapists like this gets hurt and they don't get the help they need. The laws don't help as there are always some kind of loop hold for the therapist to crawl out of.
Maryland is one of the states that don't protect the clients/victims. Let's get together to show them that it is real and these victims need our help. Make Maryland listen to Lynettes Law this coming year and make them pass the laws to protect all victims of this what should be a crime.
This would be a crime if it was a child and yes children do need our protection but so do adult victims. Everybody has the right to go to a therapist, talk about their problems, and not worry about if this person is going to abuse their power and force me to do things that I don't really want to do. It is about power and they do have power over their clients. Stand up and fight for Lynette's Law for Maryland and make therapist abuse a crime.
