I Got a Check From Spunk Fitness for $1.19

You may recall that last September, the Spunk Fitness in Odenton , surprising many area residents who like the no-frills, low-cost gym.

I was one of those people, but I was able to move on quickly and found a new place to work out. I didn't think the gym owed me money, because I had not signed a contract and the gym closed right at the end of a billing cycle.

To my surprise on Friday, I got a check in the mail from Spunk Fitness. For a whopping $1.19.

The check refers to the amount as a refund of the Annual Rate Guarantee paid in October of 2010. I have only a vague recollection of this, and don't really know how they calculated $1.19 as the amount they owed me.

But it doesn't matter. According to popular online investment calculators, if I put this money in the stock market now, I'll have roughly $7 by the time I retire. Which is like a dinner at Arby's. How exciting.
