Jessup House Fire Causes $350K In Damage

Crews from Anne Arundel County Fire Department and three other departments were called to a Jessup house fire Sunday.

JESSUP, MD — Firefighters from four area fire departments were called to put out a fire that caused an estimated $350,000 damage to a Jessup house Sunday afternoon. Just after 5 p.m. Anne Arundel County firefighters responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting a fire in an attached garage in the 7400 block of Wigley Avenue.

The first firefighters on the scene reported heavy fire from the garage area of a three-level, single-family home, officials said. A second alarm was requested, bringing about 60 firefighters from Anne Arundel and Howard counties, Fort Meade and Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall Airport.

The fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes, confining fire damage to the attached garage, laundry room and attic area. Authorities have not released a cause for the fire, but said it was accidental.
