Local Diners Help With Eatery's $1.1M Donation To USO

GAMBRILLS, MD – Local diners played an important role in helping MISSION BBQ co-founders Bill Kraus and Steve Newton recently donate $1.1 million to the United Service Organizations. The donation was made possible when customers purchased an American Heroes Cup in 2018.

The USO and Mission BBQ struck up a relationship in March 2016. To date, more than $2.6 million has been donated to the non-profit organization. The check was presented to Elaine Rogers, president of the USO Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore.

“It’s our honor and privilege to serve and support such a renowned and giving organization like the USO, whose volunteers, programs, and entertainers have supported American Heroes around the world for the last 78 years,” said Steve Newton, co-founder of MISSION BBQ, in a statement.

“It is amazing to see our relationship with MISSION BBQ grow over the years.” added Lisa Anastasi, USO chief development and marketing officer. “We are thankful for what we have accomplished together and excited to expand our support to service members and their families across the country with this national partnership.”
