Man Arrested for Fatally Shooting Father

A Curtis Bay man reportedly assaulted his father in December, was released from jail, and then is accused of shooting him last month.

Authorities say a Curtis Bay man accused of killing his father had terrorized the victim for months -- smashing his cell phone, ripping out the land line phone in the older man’s house – so he had no way to seek help.

Stephen Vaise, 67, of the 4400 block of Prudence Street in Curtis Bay, was killed on Jan. 29. His 24-year-old son, Matthew Vaise, was arrested Feb. 20 and charged with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of his father, whom family members say feared what his son might do.

The Capital-Gazette reports that in December, Matthew Vaise forced his way into his father’s bedroom, then breaking his cell phone when the elder Vaise called police.
