MARC Expects Reduced Capacity During Evening Rush

The rail service took one train offline after a train struck and killed a pedestrian Tuesday morning. Three Penn Line trains will operate with fewer cars from Washington, DC.

MARC trains will operate with reduced capacity on the Penn Line Tuesday evening, after a train struck and killed a pedestrian near Martin State Airport earlier in the day.

MARC said the accident forced train 517—which operates with eight cars—to be taken out of service for repairs and cleaning. With the reduction in available cars, three trains will operate with fewer cars than normal during Tuesday's evening rush hour.

"This will cause significant capacity constraints for this evening’s commute," MARC said in an email to riders.
