MARC Would Operate During Government Shutdown
Train and bus service will continue, but may be reduced if federal government ceases for an extended period.

The Maryland Transit Administration said it will continue MARC train and bus service even in the event of a federal government shutdown.
In response to inquiries from riders, the MTA said it will continue its normal schedule even if the government shuts down on March 4, as some legislators predict will occur if a new spending bill is not approved.
However, the MTA said it would consider reducing the frequency of trains and buses if there is a prolonged shutdown and ridership levels justify it.

MARC would likely see reduced ridership during a shutdown, as many workers who travel to and from Washington, D.C. each day are employees of the federal government. A large percentage of those workers board trains in Odenton.
In the event of a government shutdown, MARC will enforce its standard refund policies. Those policies do not allow for refunds on one-way tickets, but weekly and monthly passes can be refunded prior to the week or month in question. MARC also offers partial refunds on monthly passes based on the time of the month.
