Maryland Couple Opens 2nd Pizza Shop, New Gambrills Location Features Fresh Pies

GAMBRILLS, MD — A Maryland couple recently opened a new pizza shop in Gambrills. The restaurant, called Marco's Pizza, sits on Crain Highway near IHOP.

The owners, Aerika Wilson and Paul Rezk, both have health backgrounds. Wilson was a certified nursing assistant, and Rezk worked in medical sales.

The duo moved from Pennsylvania to the Old Line State to chase their dreams of business ownership. They opened their first Marco's Pizza location in Clinton in May 2019. The Gambrills eatery is their second site. Maryland's third and only other Marco's Pizza is in Essex.

Rezk discovered the chain during a business trip more than 15 years ago. He was instantly hooked.

"From the first time I tried Marco’s Pizza, I knew it was better than any other pizza brand I had before," Rezk said in a Sept. 15 press release announcing the opening. "The authentic and fresh taste Marco’s offers can’t be beat, and I am confident the community will really enjoy what we have to offer."

Marco's Pizza started on Italian ideals. Founder Pasquale “Pat” Giammarco grew up making pizzas with his father after they moved from Sulmona, Italy to America.

Giammarco opened the first Marco's Pizza years later in Ohio. The chain now has hundreds of locations across the country. The restaurant is known for making its own dough, using fresh cheese and creating a secret sauce. The eatery also sells subs and salads.

The Gambrills store is located at 891 Maryland Route 3 North, Suite 300. The shop is open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. It is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sundays.
