Maryland Live! Assault, Robbery Caught on Video: Police

Police have charged a Bowie man in a robbery at Maryland Live! casino's parking garage; a woman suffered head injuries in the attack.

HANOVER, MD — An early morning robbery and assault in the parking garage at Maryland Live! casino was captured on video, including a good look at the assailant's vehicle as he drove off, which led area police straight to their suspect. David Phillip Jones, 36, of Bowie, was charged with assault and robbery in the holdup, according to Anne Arundel County Police.

A 54-year-old woman told police that while she was in the Hanover casino’s parking garage about 3 a.m. Thursday, she was assaulted and her purse and money stolen. The victim was treated at a local hospital for head and facial injuries.

The robbery was captured on the security video, including what police say was Jones's vehicle as it left the parking garage. That led officers from the Bowie Police Department to the suspect’s residence in the 13000 block of Weiss Drive in Bowie, where Jones’s vehicle was found. Officers saw some of the victim’s property inside the vehicle and on the street next to Jones's residence.
