Millersville Couple Happy With $30K Even If They Missed Jackpot
An Anne Arundel County couple is still mega excited a week after winning $30,000 playing Mega Millions.

MILLERSVILLE, MD — An Anne Arundel County couple is still mega excited a week after winning $30,000 playing Mega Millions. The Millersville pair, who matched four white balls and the Mega Ball in the March 16 drawing, saw the 3x multiplier feature they added to the ticket triple the prize to $30,000, according to a Maryland Lottery news release.
The husband of the winning duo purchased the lucky ticket from the Severn Liquor Discount Mart located at 7958 Crain Highway in Glen Burnie. The couple plays often, but the $345 million Mega Millions jackpot at that time was the driving force behind the purchase. After buying the $3 quick-pick ticket and a few other Maryland Lottery games, the husband went home. No one checked the lucky ticket until the next morning.
The semi-retired mason woke first. As part of his morning routine, he watched the winning Lottery numbers scroll across the screen during the morning news. Boy, was he in for a huge surprise.

“I only caught three of the matching numbers and had to wait for them to scroll again before seeing the rest that we matched,” he told Lottery officials when the couple claimed their prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. “I went upstairs and told my wife, who was still in bed, that ‘I think we got something.’ ”
“I jumped out of bed,” said the wife in the press release. “I just had to find out how much.”

The happy couple double-checked the numbers on the Lottery’s website as well as the payout amounts. Adding the game’s Megaplier bonus for an extra $1 tripled their winnings to $30,000.
“We are so excited,” said the wife, an executive assistant. “We never thought we would win anything like this.”
Parents of grown children and grandchildren, the winners plan to save most of their prize. They will share some of the windfall with family members and donate to charity.
