Mysterious Ride Leads to $50,000 Powerball Prize For Millersville Man
An Anne Arundel County father had a lucky ticket for the June 17 Powerball drawing; he has big vacation plans for his $50K win.

MILLERSVILLE, MD — If your father asked you, out of the blue, to drive from his house in Millersville to Baltimore, would you do it without asking questions?
The son of a faithful Maryland Lottery player did just that last week for his retired father. The 66-year-old didn’t even identify their destination in the city. Only when they pulled into the parking lot at Lottery headquarters did the lucky dad confess he had a $50,000 winning Powerball ticket to claim, according to a news release.
“I really felt excited when I walked into Lottery headquarters,” the dad told Maryland Lottery officials. “I will feel even more excited when the check is in my hand!”

The winner plays Powerball and Mega Millions every day. On June 16, he bought a $6 quick-pick ticket for the June 17 drawing at the 7-Eleven store at 1101 Annapolis Road in Odenton. After he checked his numbers and confirmed his win, the happy winner called his son and told him to come over. “We need to go for a ride,” the dad said, and so they did.
Asked what he plans to do with his winnings, the Anne Arundel County resident replied “Vacation, pay bills, then more vacation!” He also plans to continue to play Powerball and Mega Millions.
