New HOV Lane at Fort Meade in Effect

A new change for carpoolers and vanpoolers at Fort Meade goes into effect Monday (May 23). 

The Army installation has switched the dedicated HOV lane from the Llewyellyn Road Gate to the Rockenbach Road Gate. 

The Rockenbach Gate will be open from 5 a.m.-9 p.m., with three inbound lanes. The far right lane will be reserved for high-occupancy vehicles during the morning rush hour (6-9 a.m.).

Only drivers with Department of Defense identification and decals on their vehicles may enter at the Rockenbach Gate. 

The creation of an HOV lane was put into effect this year as part of a broad transportation demand master plan to address the arrival of thousands of new workers at Fort Meade.
