New Penn Line Schedule in Operation

MARC Train last week made some small adjustments to the Penn Line schedule, in order to avoid conflicts with Amtrak trains and help riders make Metro connections.

For the last week, riders of the MARC Penn line have been operating under a new schedule designed to address overcrowding.

Beginning on Nov. 7, two trains have been operating with an additional railcar, and there were several adjustments made to help riders connect with Metro.

Southbound train 517, which leaves Odenton at 7:42 a.m., now has an extra car. Northbound train 538, which leaves Union Station at 5:20 p.m. and goes directly to BWI Airport, also has another car.

MARC also made the following adjustments:

  • Southbound train 505 now departs Baltimore’s Penn Station at 5:26 a.m. and leaves Odenton at 5:50 a.m. This is one minute earlier than in the past.
  • Southbound train 419 leaves Baltimore’s Penn Station at 7:45 a.m. and depart Odenton at 8:05 a.m. This is five minutes earlier, in order to avoid conflicts with Amtrak trains.
  • Southbound train 429, 431 and 433 all leave five minutes earlier. Train 429 leaves Odenton at noon, 431 will leave Odenton at 12:59 p.m., and 433 will leave at 1:59 p.m.
  • Southbound train 445 will only stop at New Carollton and BWI Airport. To make up for those lost stops, train 447 (departing Baltimore at 5:20 p.m.) will make all stops from Baltimore to Washington.
