North Patuxent on Town Center Agenda Again

Elm Street Development will present updated plans for townhouses on North Patuxent Road.

Plans for townhouses along North Patuxent Road will get another look next week at the meeting of the Odenton Town Center Plan Oversight Committee.

According to the draft agenda for Tuesday's meeting, Elm Street Development will present its revised plan, which comes after a month of discussions with county planning officials. Last month, The project is tentatively called "Odenton Station," and would include four live-work units.

The plan is only an informal concept plan, but Elm Street is seeking feedback in the hopes that it will be able to submit a formal preliminary plan.

In a letter to planning officials on April 5, Elm Street Vice President Steve Horne confirmed that the developer is seeking a waiver of rules requiring 20 percent commercial space on the site. In exchange for the waiver, Elm Street plans to extend Becknel Avenue with a new pedestrian plaza, some public art, benches and improvements to the existing hiker/biker connection.

Also Tuesday, the town center committee will hear from any residents interested in joining the committee. There are two open board positions, and the committee has set aside time to allow interested candidates to offer information about themselves and explain their interest in the committee.
