Movies, Comedian Highlight Senior Events for February
This month's activities at Odenton's senior center include an appearance from the comedian "Platinum" and a special Italian meal.

The Catherine L. O'Malley Senior Activity Center has announced its activities for February.
The O'Malley center, located at 1275 Odenton Road, is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. For more information about any of these activities, call the center at 410-222-6227.

- Every Friday at 12:30 p.m., the center will show movies. The selections include: “Ides of March” on Feb. 10, “Courageous” on Feb. 17, and “Cowboys and Aliens” on Feb. 24. Volunteer Mary Markuski is coordinating the films, subject to change.
- Enjoy a small Italian supper from "Chefs on the Go" Rosalie Falter and Sue Latini. The meal will be served at 1 p.m. on Feb. 16. The meals include an appetizer, a pasta dish with olives, tomatos and arugula, and a healthy dessert. The cost is $3. Recipe copies will be distributed.
- Hear music from Tim Amann from the group Pet Rock. He will play guitar and sing favorite songs from the 1950s to the 1970s from 11 a.m. to noon Feb. 14.
- Comedian Platinum will perform at 11 a.m. on Feb. 21 as part of the center’s Black History Month observance. She’s been featured in regional publications.
- At 10:45 a.m. on Feb. 28, a diabetes educator from Anne Arundel Medical Center will discuss diabetes awareness and available resources. He will review signs and symptoms of diabetes, taking precautionary measures, and short term complications. A question-answer period is planned.
- It's now possible to register for classes for the spring session. A complete list of courses from April to June is available at the center. There will be classes on a wide variety of topics, including Irish history, the Constitution and the founding fathers, and yoga. Cost is an $80 administrative fee payable to Anne Arundel Community College. Those under age 60 pay an additional $40 per course. Some classes have a supply fee.
