A fight over a Bowie man led to a Christmas Day shooting and a stabbing in Odenton, say Anne Arundel County Police.

ODENTON, MD — A fight over a Bowie man led to a Christmas Day shooting and a stabbing in Odenton that sent two people to the hospital and then jail, say Anne Arundel County Police. A shooting was reported just before 5 p.m. Monday in the 300 block of Eagle Landing Court in Odenton, where officers found a 17-year-old girl suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.

Investigators say the girl — later identified as Rhyen Gaulden, 17, of the 300 block of Eagle Landing Court in Odenton — fought with her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend, and allegedly stabbed the new girlfriend. The ex-boyfriend — identified as John Sebastian Lopez, 20, of the 7600 block of Quicksilver Court in Bowie — then took out a handgun and fired one shot at Gaulden, striking her in the leg, police say.

Lopez and his girlfriend fled the scene and later arrived at Laurel Regional Hospital to seek treatment for the female’s stab wound to her back. She was treated for the non-life threatening injury. Lopez was placed under arrest at the hospital and charged with attempted murder, first- and second-degree assault, and firearm related charges.
