Odenton Man Dies, Other Driver Hurt In Severn Crash That's Under Investigation: Police

An Odenton man died in a Severn crash this weekend, police said. The other driver was hospitalized. Officers are still investigating.

SEVERN, MD — Police announced that an Odenton man died Friday after a Severn crash. Officers identified the victim as 59-year-old Joseph Albert Fletcher. The other driver in the wreck was seriously injured and went to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, authorities added.

The two-vehicle accident happened around 9 p.m. on Telegraph Road under the Maryland Route 100 overpass. A 2001 Honda Accord sedan was heading north while a 2016 Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck was traveling south and approaching the same intersection on Telegraph Road.

The cars then collided head on. A press release said the Anne Arundel County Fire Department pronounced Fletcher, who drove the Honda, dead on the scene.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department is still investigating the cause of the crash.
