ODENTON, MD — What’s the best place to live in Maryland? That depends on who you ask. According to a new set of rankings released by Niche.com, Odenton places high in the 100 best places to live in Maryland, coming in No. 56.

An Odenton resident describes the community as, "It is a nice, quiet and clean town. The grocery stores have some of the freshest produce in the Maryland, Washington D.C. and Virginia Area. Odenton is almost dead center in-between Baltimore and Washington D.C. For Bowie Maryland is Odenton's next door neighbor. The apartments and town homes are clean neat and presentable. If you are seeking a beak from the hustle and bustle of Baltimore or Washington D.C. living in Odenton is a great throw back top the days of the old-fashioned suburb."

Niche.com gave Odenton an A- for Public Schools, an A for Good for Families, an A for Diversity, a B+ for Nightlife and a B for Housing.

Severn is No. 78. A resident said, "Severn is great for families who like a little bit of country with the city right next door, if your idea of next door is 20 miles south. It's very safe and there are lots of community activities. Truly a great place too live. Just enough snow to play in, but not too much you'll tunnel your way out of! A great place, everyone is friendly and lots of people have pets, who are well trained and great with children, even the big dogs!"

To arrive at the rankings, Niche.com took several factors into consideration, such as the quality of local schools, crime rates, housing trends, employment statistics and access to amenities. Niche created a standardized score for each factor and after weighting each factor, an overall score was calculated, which was again given a new standardized score.

Finally, Niche.com created a numerical ranking and assigned grades for each place. Click here to read more about the methodology.
