Odenton Teen Robbers Armed With Gun, Plastic Bat: Police

An Odenton man was targeted for a robbery by an Upper Marlboro teen, who fled the scene with a handgun, police say.

Odenton, MD — Teenagers reportedly armed with a gun and a bat -- which turned out to be plastic -- attempted to rob an Odenton man Wednesday afternoon.

The incident was reported to Anne Arundel County Police about 3:30 p.m. at Commodore Drive and Brigadier Boulevard.

The victim told police that two teens approached him and told him to put his hands up. One of the suspects lifted his shirt, showing the victim a handgun tucked in his waistband, while the other youth was holding a bat.

After showing the victim the weapons they again told the victim to put his hands up. The man said the pair saw someone working in a yard and fled the area.

Officers located two suspects in the area matching the description given by the victim. Jamil Smith-Miles, 19, of the 1000 Block of Tadmore Place in Upper Marlboro, was found to be in possession of a BB gun.

Police say the second suspect was a 14-year-old carrying a plastic bat. The victim identified both teens as the would-be robbers.

Both suspects were arrested for attempted robbery and taken to Western District for booking. The 14-year-old was charged as a juvenile.
