Pinnacle Logistics To Lay Off More Than 1,600 Employees
Pinnacle Logistics, which operates out of BWI Airport, plans to lay off more than 1,600 employees in April. Amazon has offered to hire them.
HANOVER, MD — Pinnacle Logistics, an aviation and trucking company that operates out of Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), will be laying off more than 1,600 people in a few months.
According to the Maryland Department of Labor, Pinnacle Logistics filed a "work adjustment and retraining notification," or WARN, notice with the Maryland Department of Labor Jan. 15 stating that it would be laying off 1,609 employees in April.
However, Amazon also announced that it will be hiring at BWI and has offered those same hourly employees at Pinnacle Logistics jobs at the same location, which was confirmed by Amazon spokeswoman Rena Lunak said in an email to The Capital Gazette.

Amazon has a $36 million, 200,000-square-foot warehouse in Baltimore and Pinnacle Logistics is a contractor with the company. Pinnacle Logistics is headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas. According to its website, however, Pinnacle Logistics is hiring for a variety of positions out of its Maryland location.
