Police: Thief Put Store Customer in Chokehold to Grab Cash

A customer waiting in line to pay at a Brooklyn Park discount store was choked from behind by a suspect who grabbed cash out of the victim’s hand.
Anne Arundel County Police were called to the store about 9:15 a.m. Saturday, June 21, in the 5100 block of Ritchie Highway for a reported robbery.
The victim, a 43-year-old Baltimore man, said he was standing in line, waiting to check out inside a discount store, when he removed cash from his pocket. The suspect, “...came out of nowhere,” struck the victim in the left side of the face with a fist, and then put him in a chokehold, police said. The suspect grabbed some of the victim’s cash out of his hand. The suspect then ran from the store, and was seen running north across the parking lot.

The victim was examined by Anne Arundel County Fire Department personnel, but he refused treatment.
Numerous patrol officers searched the area for the suspect, but the man was not found.

The suspect is described as a 25-year-old black man, about 6’2”, 175 pounds, wearing black pants and a black shirt with an orange-colored design on it, and carrying black sunglasses.
