Poll: Do You Buy Local?

Area residents seem to be excited about the news that next month, offering a place to buy locally-produced food and other items.

The news comes as the Piney Orchard Farmers Market gets ready to open on Wednesday, with hours from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

So there should be plenty of chances to support local farmers and other producers.

Advocates say buying local is often better for communities because money stays where it's spent. The West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce and many businesses in the area have pushed residents to frequent small and independent stores.
