There are lots of things happening this week in the area. Here's a helpful list of some of the key events.

Normally each week, we give a rundown of five events that may be of interest to readers. This time, the agenda is so packed that we offer seven events.

County Council Meeting

When: 7 p.m.

Piney Orchard Community Association Board of Directors Meeting

When: Monday, 6:30 p.m.
Where:
Piney Orchard Community Center

Details: Residents of Odenton’s largest planned development can get the latest on things happening in their community. Get an update on Piney Orchard’s efforts to oppose a rubble landfill planned just to the south of the community.

County Parks and Recreation Plan Public Meeting

When: Tuesday, 7 p.m.
Where:
Arundel High School

Details: The Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks is updating its plan. In a series of public meetings, it is seeking feedback from residents Recreation and Parks Director, Rick Anthony, and members of the Recreation Advisory Board will be in attendance. The first meeting on Tuesday will cover the Western Planning area.

Tour West County Expo and Developer Showcase

When: Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Where
: Seven Oaks Office Building, 2288 Blue Water Boulevard, Odenton.

Details: Sponsored by the , developers will have a chance to tout their projects in West Anne Arundel County, and there will be a bus tour featuring projects underway. Development in the Odenton Town Center will be a major focus. Cost is $20 for the expo, and $65 for the bus tour.

Anne Arundel County School Board Meeting

When: Wednesday, 7 p.m.
Where:
2644 Riva Road, Annapolis

Details: The school board will update the public on its strategic plan, specifically looking at the system’s progress in academic achievement.

District 33 Democrats Meeting

When: 6 p.m.
Where:
Perry’s Restaurant, 1210 Annapolis Rd., Odenton

Details: The local Democrats club will hold its monthly business meeting and host George Johnson, Superintendent of the Maryland Natural Resources Police and Josh Greene, Chairman, School Board Nominating Commission of Anne Arundel County

Homecoming at Arundel High

When: Friday and Saturday
Where:
Arundel High School

Details: The Arundel High football team will host Severna Park in the annual Homecoming game at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Carroll Field. Then on Saturday, there will be a dance in the school’s cafeteria from 7-10 p.m.
