SEVERN, MD — A home under construction in Severn was destroyed by fire Monday evening, according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. While the cause of the fire is under investigation, fire officials say it appears to have been an accident related to a vehicle in the garage.
The house in the area of Loving Road and Reece Road was reported on fire just after 6:45 p.m. The initial caller to 9-1-1 said the house was nearly fully involved in fire. Firefighters located a two-story single family home under construction completely in flames in the 1000 block of Floretty Court.
Nearly 60 firefighters from Anne Arundel County and Fort Meade brought the fire under control in about an hour. Damage is estimated at $200,000.
