Severn Man Killed in Crash Likely in Accident 30 Minutes Earlier: Police
A Severn man died when his pickup slammed head-on into a tractor trailer. Five Odenton residents in an SUV were not hurt in the collision.

A Severn man killed when his pickup truck crashed head-on into a tractor-trailer truck was likely involved in another crash just a half before the fatal accident, according to Anne Arundel County Police.
The fatal crash involving three vehicles was reported at 8:07 p.m. Tuesday in the 7800 block of Telegraph Road (MD-170) near Old Donaldson Avenue in Severn.

Investigators say a Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck was northbound on Telegraph Road when it crossed the centerline, sideswiped a Honda Pilot SUV and struck a US Foods tractor-trailer truck head-on.
The driver of the pickup -- Rusty James Hood, 27, of Severn -- was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore.

Police say the drivers of the US Foods truck, William Jefferson, 44, of Baltimore, and the Honda Pilot, Jonathan Duncan, 33, of Odenton, were not injured. Two women and two children, all from Odenton, who were passengers in Duncan’s vehicle were not hurt in the wreck.
The cause of the collision appears to be the failure of Hood’s pickup to remain in its lane, likely due to excessive speed during rainy conditions, police say.
Hood is also suspected in a hit and run crash that happened about a half hour earlier on Dicus Mill Road and Gambrills Road, according to police.
