Severn Man Threatened To Set House On Fire: Anne Arundel Police

A Severn man poured gasoline on the home's porch and threatened to set it on fire, Anne Arundel County police say.

SEVERN, MD — A Severn man threatened to set a home on fire early Wednesday morning, police say. Authorities arrested Timothy Brown and charged him with attempted arson.

The dispute started earlier in the day when the suspect and the resident got into an argument. Police say the accused man returned to the house, poured gasoline on its porch and threatened to set it on fire.

Officers from the Anne Arundel County Police Department responded to the intimidation in the 8200 block of Parham Court around 12:40 a.m. The suspect fled the scene.

Police soon after found Brown about a quarter mile-away in the 8200 block of Durness Court, where his home is located. They arrested Brown and charged him with five misdemeanors.

The most serious charges against Brown are attempted arson in the first degree and threat of arson. He also faces three counts of reckless endangerment.

Brown has a bail hearing Thursday morning at 11 a.m. His case does not yet have a listed trial date.

A peace order was also filed against Brown on Wednesday. Peace orders are similar to restraining orders in their ability to prevent aggressive behavior.
