Severn Teen Charged in Groping at AA Community College

The 18-year-old has been charged with a sex offense, Anne Arundel police said.

An 18-year-old from Severn turned himself in to authorities Wednesday and admitted to committing a sex offense at Anne Arundel Community College, according to police.

Gregory Scott Wheatley Jr., 18, of the 1800 block of Disney Estates Circle, has been charged with second-degree assault and a fourth-degree sex offense, the Anne Arundel County Police Department reported.

At noon on Tuesday, police responded to Anne Arundel Community College at 101 Crain Highway in Glen Burnie for a reported groping, the report said.

The victim said she was leaving the college at 1:45 p.m. on Monday when a man followed her into the parking garage across the street from campus, then grabbed her rear end and ran away, police said. The 39-year-old victim was not injured, according to police.

Police said Wheatley turned himself in Thursday after seeing images of himself distributed by media outlets in connection with the crime. A criminal summons has been issued.
